The European Cliff Diving Championship 2008 took place on 25 – 26 July 2008 at Gola del Lupo, Bignasco/Cavergno Maggia Valley, Ticino, Switzerland.

Since 1992 international cliff diving competition, such as Swiss Open Championships, European Championships and World Championships have taken place in the magic Maggia Valley. With its countless breathtakingly beautiful, natural swimming pools, often surrounded by steep granite cliffs, the Maggia Valley belongs to one of the most spectacular natural settings for cliff diving in the world. It’s for the first time, that the European Cliff Diving Championship will take place in Bignasco/Cavergno, a tiny village located in the upper Maggia Valley, in the South of Switzerland. The diving place is called Gola del Lupo (wolfs throat). During the European Championships, the participants will dive heights up to 22 meters, performing aesthetic and acrobatic skills.

World High Diving Championship

The WHDF World High Diving Championship took place on October 24-25, 2008 at Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico

12 contestants from 11 countries took part in the event which showcased some brilliant and very difficult diving techniques.

Steve Black from Australia took 1st place with an impressive score of 324.850 after the three rounds. Juan Adolfo Gutierrez from Mexico took second with a score of 300.12 while Laurant Fischer from France rounded out the medals with a very respectable 293.050 points.
